Instagram policies and what you need to know

The content you monetize on Instagram should be safe, respectful, and compliant with laws and regulations. By following our policies, you can earn money from your content while also helping us maintain a trustworthy environment.

Content to avoid

  • Visibly recycled from other apps, especially if they include 3rd-party fonts and watermarks
  • Video or pictures you do not own the rights to.
  • Music not from Facebook or Instagram’s music libraries, or any non-original audio you create or find on Reels.
  • Interruptive, exaggerated, misleading or baiting.

Check your account status

In Account Status you can:

  • See if your content may be eligible to be recommended to people who don’t follow you in places like Explore, Search, Suggested Accounts, Reels and Feed Recommendations.
  • See if something in your profile (like your profile photo or bio) goes against our Recommendations Guidelines.
  • See if your content can’t be recommended right now. From here you can view a sample of the content (like a post or reel) you posted that goes against our Recommendations Guidelines and learn more about which guideline applies to your content.
  • View any content that has been removed for going against our Community Guidelines.
  • Edit or remove content that goes against our Recommendations Guidelines, or request a review of our decision.

Our Community Guidelines are focused on keeping people safe on Instagram. If you post something that goes against our Community Guidelines including content you’re currently monetizing, and we find it, we’ll take it down.
